Bryce Jackman, Carbon's only freshman wrestler, was able to place third at region this season and take a team high fifth place at state.

Of the 17 wrestlers who participated in the region eight tournament, 11 medaled and earned a trip to the state meet in Orem at Utah Valley College.
At the region competition; Wyatt Martinez and Bryce Jackman took third, Cole Hunt took fourth, Jason Fredrickson and Lance Deeter placed sixth, Marcus Rowley, Nico Velasquez and T.J. Bettino took seventh and Stefan Larsen, Cody Hunt and Anthony Montoya all took eighth rounding out the state team.
This year was the first year that the state combined it's regions to have what has been labeled "super region" tournament. Meaning that Carbon's wrestlers competed against nine other schools from the southern region of the state, giving more weight to their accomplishment of placing.
As a 3A squad, individual's are given medals for placing first through sixth.
Bryce Jackman, Carbon's only freshman wrestler took fifth, the highest placing on the team.
Cole Hunt beat the states number one ranked wrestler the first day of competition but was unable to compete in the remainder of the tournament due to weight. Despite not wrestling in the second or third round he still brought home the state's sixth place medal.
Conditioning for wrestling is a year long endeavor and region restructuring will start next season. The wrestlers will begin anew and look toward next a great 2009-10 season.
