This portion of the floor plans showcases the seating areas in front of the dance floor and stage. Behind the stage and projector will be full service restrooms and dressing rooms for anyone requiring those amenities. It is the hope of both Siaperas and MacKnight that the Silver Crown will attract a wide variety of shows.
Price's Main Street is in for a big change in the coming months as the nearly 100 year old Crown Theater has changed hands. The structure, recently purchased by local entrepreneur Tony Siaperas, will become a live arts and event facility will be known as the Silver Crown Events Center.
"I've been aware of the fact that Price needed a facility large enough and classy enough to accommodate weddings and other entertainment related affairs," said Siaperas in a recent interview. "I am proud to be able to provide residents with this venue which will certainly meet, if not exceed both ours and the local communities expectations."
According to the new owner, he has wanted to purchase the property since 1995 as a service to the community and as a personal business venture.
"Like anyone in the business community, I am in this to make money, commented Siaperas. "But you hear everybody talking about going to Provo or Salt Lake for their entertainment, I want to give Carbon County's citizens a reason to stay home. By doing this project we hope to add to the economic development of the entire area."
Despite initial rumors, Siaperas and his marketing director Corina MacKnight plan to keep the buildings exterior very similar to it's current appearance, in form at least.
"After I bought the building I has people down here from the city asking me if I was planning to tear the place down and I have never had any such intention," explained Siaperas. "I can remember when I was a kid that marque used to light up the whole street and I would like to see that again. I want to see the building restored to it's former glory."
Both Siaperas and MacKnight stated that they have plans for an early 1920s and 30s look for the outside of the structure, modern amenities in the building's interior.
"For years I have felt and have listened as others in the community said that Price is a wonderful place to live but its sources of entertainment were limited," said MacKnight. "Both me and Tony feel that this facility will provide an incredible asset to the community."
The event center will have the capacity to seat approximately 260 patrons while accommodating 300 and the new owners plan to open the facility to a wide range of activities including:
â¢Comedy and magic shows.
â¢Concerts and live theater events.
â¢Vegas style shows.
The plans for the building's interior demonstrate a massive remodel. While the structure itself will keep its pitched flooring, leveled booths will be installed on both sides of the venue leading to a leveled dance floor that will ramp up to the stage.
"We plan to have weddings be one of our major attractions," said MacKnight. "Because of that, we are going to try and keep the inside neutral in color with dressing and restrooms available for both the bride's and groom's wedding parties. The new venue will also have the ability to project events on the screen behind the stage."
According to MacKnight, all coming events will be displayed on the marque as a way for patrons to announce their nuptials. A wedding planner is also part of the marketing scheme for the facility.
The marketing director stated that the new ownership is hoping to portray an old hotel style in the Crown's interior in keeping with the building's history.
"We just want to produce a classy environment for the people of Carbon County," she added.
According to Siaperas, that projector will use high definition technology to showcase specials such as fights and and sporting events on a 28x16 foot screen.
The Silver Crown's owners are also hoping to attract nationally known bands to the area for concerts and touring theater troops for shows.
The event center will have the option of opening into the Silver Dollar and the steak house or having those buildings closed off. It will reportedly by available for private rental and tailored to the specifications of the renter.
The building will encompass a full kitchen, three sets of bathrooms and a dance floor to go along with all the aforementioned amenities.
"We plan to start construction at the beginning of February and be up and running by this summer," concluded Siaperas. "Like I said, I have wanted to do this project for a long time and the pieces just finally fell into place."
