William David Crawford

William David Crawford

PROVO - Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and husband, William David Crawford, 80 of Provo completed his earthly journey on Jan. 25, 2009 surrounded by his family.

Bill was a courageous and valiant spirit who stands as a great example to us all.

He was born in Spring Canyon on Oct. 6, 1928 to John "Scotty" and Sarah Alice Ruff Crawford.

He attended Carbon High School in Price, where he was an honor student, yell leader and class president.

He attended Brigham Young University where he loved being a member of the Val Hyric fraternity. He earned his master's degree in education.

While at BYU, he met the love of his life, Caroline B. Johns, and was sealed to her in the Manti LDS Temple on July 11, 1952.

Bill was president of the teachers asociation in Provo, where he taught for over 34 years, and was a member of the professional fraternity Phi Delta Kappa. He had the remarkable gift of remembering his students names years after he taught them.

Bill was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served diligently in many callings, including three church missions. Bill's passion was doing genealogical and temple work. Through the thousands of names he extracted, he was able to trace his lineage back to Sir William Wallace (Braveheart), whose mother was a Crawford. He loved his Scottish heritage.

Bill was a diehard BYU football fan, a member of the Cougar Club, and attended every game.

His garden was his pride and joy.

He loved his babies and rocked his children and grandchildren to sleep singing Scottish lullabies.

Throughout his life, he had many fun adventures with his family and friends.

Dad, you will be greatly missed. We are grateful for your life and look forward to the day when we are all together again for our next great adventure!.

Bill is survived by his wife, Caroline Johns; and his children Michael, Kim (Irene Sallee), Jolene (Jack Crosby), Karin (Richard Singleton), Janet (Pedram Aram); eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul David; and grandson, Brandon Paul Aram.
