Marjorie Winn Howlett

Marjorie Winn Howlett

PRICE/HEBER CITY - Marjorie Winn Howlett, 86, former resident of Price and Preston, Idaho, died of natural causes Jan.10, 2009 in Heber City.

She was born Nov. 18, 1922 to Eden Lorus and Ruby Merriam Winn in Manti. She married Vincent F. Howlett in July 1957. They later divorced.

Marjorie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend.

She served a mission for the LDS Church in Canada. She served in many organizations of the church, though she never wanted attention to be drawn to her or her contributions.

After her mission, she worked as a clerk in the Kenilworth store.

Early in her life, Marjorie lived in the different communities where her father taught school, but summers were spent in Manti, surrounded by cousins, aunts and uncles.

She diligently cared for her mother, who suffered from severe arthritis. She also cared for her father and her father-in-law Frank Howlett.

After divorcing, Marjorie continued in homemaking and maid service to support her family. In 2002, she moved to Preston, Idaho, to be with her daughter and son-in-law. The last few years of her life, she lived in Provo and Heber City.

Marjorie enriched many lives with her gifts of service and the beautiful quilts and embroidery she gave away.

Babies in the family were always greeted with a warm quilt and receiving blanket.

Neighbors near and far received loaves of homemade bread.

Her kitchen was a warm and inviting place where friends and family gathered to talk, laugh and sometimes cry together.

She is survived by her three children, two sons and a daughter, Dan (Kathy) Howlett, Orem; Ruth (the late Bruce) Larsen, Preston, Idaho; and David (Moana) Howlett, Provo. She has been welcomed back to her heavenly home with loving arms of her parents, a brother and sister.

Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 North, Orem. Family and friends may call from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Manti City Cemetery.
