Despite having a young team, the Carbon Dino wrestlers are off to a strong start with big wins over Emery, Duchesne, Orem, Grand and Union. Additionally, the team is getting stronger with every match and the sky appears to be the limit for coach John Watkins and his team.

According to Watkins, there are several standouts on the squad including Bryce Jackman who sports a 17-3 record and took eighth at the 69 team Las Vegas Classic despite being injured.

"I have no doubt that he would have placed higher if it hadn't been for his injury," said the Carbon coach.

Cole Hunt has also looked great for the Dinos, amassing a 16 - 3 record and having the ability to challenge for the region and state title.

Additionally, Watkins commented that Jason Fredrickson, 13-4; Wyatt Martinez, 15-4; Lance Deeter, 14-4 and Cody Hunt at 15-4 could all make a run at the title in their respective weight classes.

"My only disappointments so far this year is the fact that we didn't wrestle as well as we are capable of at the Monticello tournament, aside from that our team continues to grow and work hard as they face the remaining season."

In a state full of top notch wrestlers the young team will have several more opportunities to show the grappling community what they are made of.
