Livnat Alon and Meagan Peasrson run the fast- break as part of the CEU's offensive strategy during their home win over the Idaho All-Stars this past weekend at the College of Eastern Utah's BDAC.
The CEU women's basketball team pushed their record to 6-3 with a decisive win over the Idaho All-Stars on Saturday afternoon. The fate was not in doubt early in the contest and in the end it was all Eagles 73-59.
Coach Paur had his team running and shooting from the opening tip. He stayed with the liberal substitution rotation he used in the win over Glendale AZ last week. He had his squad pushing the ball up the field and shooting quickly on offense. He kept them moving fast down court on defense to shut out anything in the paint from All-Stars. Half the scoring from the All-Stars came from the 3 point line and beyond.
"I tried to push the fast break as much as possible, and we did a good job of it most of the time. It's hard to bring teams in with our limited budget so we are grateful to get these all-star teams to give us the court time we need." stated Coach Paur. "I got to put in all of my players and I don't usually get a chance to do it, so that was good."
Megan Pearson led all scorers with 11 and Ande Miller followed up with ten. Livnat Alon fed the offense six assists and pulled in 10 rebounds in the winning effort. For the Idaho All-Stars, Chelsea Warburton hit for 24 points.
The team will play another all-star game this Saturday at the B-DAC at 3 p.m. Men follow at 5 p.m. This is the last chance to watch both teams before the Christmas break.
