A Carbon High swimmer digs hard in the freestyle portion of his medley event at an earlier meet.
On Friday Nov. 21st the Carbon swim team traveled to Delta. They competed with a very small team. The girls only had seven compete and boys had 11. Despite the numbers the Carbon boys came away with an 85-66 win. The girls just missed a win with the final score Delta 63, Carbon 60.
Jill Malone swam her best meet. In the 200 free, she took off eight seconds and took first,In the 500 free, she took off 26 seconds while placing second.
In the boys 200 IM Brett Davis edged out teammate Dallen Garvin by less than a second as they took first and second respectively. Carbon's Randy Slane grabbed third.
The girl's 50 free ended with Nanny Lowe in second and Kenzie Mantz a close third with fourth going to Dino Katie Torres. The girl's 100 freestyle was a close and exciting race. Kim Callaway garnered second, Nanny Lowe third and Jenae Wilhemi in fourth and only a few seconds separated all three.
The Carbon boys took the two top spots in the100 free with Kyle Hicken finishing first, and Terrence Henrie taking second. Boy's 500 free had Ryan taking first. In the boys two hundred freestyle relay the Carbon boys crushed Delta as the Carbon A team grabbed first and the Carbon B team placed second. The A team finished twenty seconds in front of Delta's A team.
In the 100 backstroke Megan Barnett took second while swimming her best time this year. Jenae Welhemi placed third.
The boy's 100 backstroke saw Tim Neilson finish second.
In the girl's 100 breaststroke Kenzie Mantz impressed her coaches by taking more than ten seconds off her time and finishing second. Kim Callaway finished third.
In a very close boy's 100 breaststroke, Carbons Brett Davis won and Nick Torres grabbed third. There was only a second difference between the first through the third place swimmers.
"This was the most exciting race of the night," remarked Coach Kamera Davis
The 400 relays ended the competition with Dino girls taking first and boys taking second and third.
The Carbon swim team will be traveling to Canyon View for an Invitational meet on Dec. 5&6.
