During the 2007 season a CEU Golden Eagle goes high above the rim for a rebound during league play.
The CEU Golden Eagles improved their record to 5-0 last Saturday, Nov. 15 with a win over Northwest College Wyoming in front of a home crowd at the B-DAC. The final score was CEU 83, NWC 68 keeping the Eagles pre-season record perfect.
Darington Hobson led the way for CEU with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Coach Chris Craig described some of the great performance he got from him, "Hobson gets the crowd fired up with a spectacular dunk in the second half, driving in from the left side blowing past the first defender then avoiding a second comes up under the basket and dunks."
Stephen Franklin added 15 points and eight rebounds. Cliff Colimon also scored double digits with 11 points. Mike Scott dished out six assists.
It didn't help Northwest when their leading player, Casper Hesseldal, went down with a severe sprained ankle mid-way through the second half.
Craig noted, " Our guys played their tails off and that is covering up for some of our faults right now. In November, I am happy with our effort level because we have all year to continue to get better and better executing. Darington (Hobson) played his best game of the year, attacking the basket and getting to the free throw line."
The Golden Eagles played Northwestern back on Oct. 31. The first time the two teams me up the final score was CEU 66, Northwestern 52. Instead of the game being tighter, CEU closed it out with a decisive 15 point win.
CEU plays at home again this weekend with an all-star game on Saturday with game time at 7:30 at the BDAC.
