Fire training at Sally Mauro Elementary

The students watched as the Helper Fire Department trained their water cannon on the playground, showing the power of the equipment fire fighters use.
Sally Mauro Principal Seth Allred points a fire extinguisher at a test blaze to see if he can put it out before he runs out of chemical.
Some staff members and students got to try on fire fighter gear to see how it feels.

Students at Sally Mauro Elementary got a taste of what fire fighters have to do when the Helper Fire Department came to their school last week.

Demonstrations included fire safety, how the equipment fire fighters use works, what fire extinguishers do and how they work and even a few kids got to put on turn out uniforms that fire fighters wear.

It was all done in the name of fire awareness and to teach kids about the dangers and pitfalls of fires.
