Joy Malone elevates to smash a kill against Salem Hills. Britni Greenwood and Malone lead the team in kills as Carbon continues their winning ways.
At the halfway mark in region play, the Lady Dino volleyball team is on their mark for staying undefeated. They went to Delta on Thursday and downed the Rabbits in four to stay ahead of the pack. Delta put up a fight but in the end Carbon won 25-16, 26-24, 14-25, 25-22.
The Dinos have just come off of two fairly easy matches. Coach Cristin Johnson knew Delta was going to be tougher. Carbon came out and took game one easily, but then Delta stepped it up a notch. Game two went down to the wire with the Rabbits. Then, just as it looked like another possible sweep, Carbon seemed to lose their focus and Delta jumped on them. The Dinos got down early and played catch up the entire game. It was a wake-up call and the team got down to business and put the Rabbits away in game four.
Britni Greenwood had a superb game with 20 kills. Joy Malone had 13 and Karlee Martino smashed six over the net without a hitting error on the night. Julia Potts continues to run to offense with 41 set assists.
"We just kinda took a little vacation in the third game, a little let down," commented Johnson. "It was a bit of a wake up and that is good from time to time for us. But we are right where we want to be at the halfway point. Next week will really put us to the test as we head to Juan Diego on Tuesday and then into play North Sanpete on Thursday."
