Department of Wildlife Resources reports continued area bear problems

It happens every year, said Bill Bates in a Aug. 5 press release. Campers and hunters leave their trailers on the mountain, for a variety of reasons, according to Bates and usually come back to find them just as they left them.

"Unfortunately, in a few instances, they return to a hurricane like mayhem," quipped Bates. "A bear has gained access through a cracked window, door or floor and has turned everything upside down."

The best remedy for this type of problem, according to the DWR representative, is prevention.

He recommends, despite the inconvenience, that campers take their trailers with them when they leave.

During speech Bennett calls on congress to 'get back in the game' of producing energy

In a speech given on the senate floor, Sen. Bob Bennett urged Congress to get back into energy production.

He discussed the need to pass the Gas Price Reduction Act of 2008. Legislation something he calls a balanced, long-term energy plan, rather than piecemeal legislation that will have little effect on gas prices.

Bennett also stated that the heart of the energy problem is a limited oil supply and a high world demand.

According to the Utah senator, the act would help solve the country's need by expanding deep seas exploration, repealing the moratorium on oil shale, increasing research for plug in valves and strengthening the U.S. futures market.
