Carbon track keeps rolling on

On April 17, Carbon High competed at the Uintah Invitational Track and Field Meet.

The boys placed third out of nine teams.

Kent Olsen placed second in the 800 meter run and third in the 1600 meters. Jared Richens and Kaleb Kulow had great runs, as they placed sixth and seventh with personal best times.

In the hurdle event, Brett Wells placed third in the 100 meter and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles. Brock Morley placed fifth in the 110 meter hurdles and fourth in the 300 meter hurdle.

In the sprints Robert Lowe placed fifth in the finals, following in sixth place was Chris Rummel.

The Carbon boys placed second in the 1600 medley relay. The relay was composed of Zac Barnett, Carson Talton, Kaleb Kulow, and Robert Lowe. The boys also placed second in the 4x400 meter relay. On this team were Brett Wells, Robert Lowe, Brock Morley, and Bradon Watkins.

Jed Prettyman placed second in the high jump and Ryan Rasmussen fourth.

The girls placed fourth out of nine teams at the meet.

Patricia Smith took first in the 800 meters and second in the 1600 meter run. She also helped the 4x400 meter relay team to a third place finish. Other girls on the team were Karissa Melson, Felicia Olmos, and Lydia Jeppson.

Felicia Olmos placed fourth in both the 100 and 200 meter sprints.

Nannie Lowe ran a personal best - more than two minutes faster - to place fourth in the 3200 meter run.

Megan Garvin placed second in the high jump and fourth in the Javelin. She also tried her hand at the discus and placed fourth in that event.

Erica Potts placed fifth in the shotput and sixth in the javelin.

The next meet is April 26 at Richfield. The meet is invitational as well as a qualifying event.
