Collision Southeast Of Wellington on U.S. 6 Claims Lives Of Two Monticello Residents

Two life flight helicopters prepare to depart from Castleview Hospital following a fatal two-vehicle traffic accident on U.S. Highway 6.

On July 15, a 34-year-old British motorist traveling on U.S. 6 reportedly collided with an oncoming vehicle, killing two occupants and seriously injuring a third. The wreck occurred approximately 22 miles southeast of Wellington and claimed the lives of 34-year old Letha St. Clair of Monticello and the younger victim's mother, 63 year-old Linda Shiew, also of Monticello.

St. Clair's nephew, Logan Hugentobler, indicated that the pair were returning to Monticello with the younger woman's 3 year-old daughter, Sarah, after vistiting him in Salt Lake.

'My aunt would come and visit me on a regular basis,' said Hugentobler. 'But this was a special visit because my grandmother had come up to see the family as well.'

Hugentobler reported that his cousin Sarah, who is only a week shy of her fourth birthday, is in serious condition at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center with a fractured neck.

The British motorist was treated for serious but not lifethreatening injuries, according to law enforcement officers.
