Carbon area representatives invited to June 28 western rural policy forum

A western rural policy advocates forum is scheduled June 28 at College of Eastern Utah.

The informational session is an invitation only gathering.

The members of the group will meet with Carbon County representatives to discuss and educate participants about how to more effectively move ideas into state policy.

The advocates will hear from local representatives about rural issues they feel are important and are not being properly represented at state levels.

Farm Service Agency preparing to accept county committee nominations

The Farm Service Agency will start to accept nominations for the county committee on June 15.

FSA acts as a link between the community and the United States. Department of Agriculture.

Committee members apply judgment and knowledge to make local decisions. To become a nominee, eligible individuals must sign nomination form FSA-669A. The form is available at USDA Services Centers and online at fsa.usda.gov.

Last day to file nomination forms is Aug. 1.

Outlaw Car Show activities slated on June 15, June 16 in downtown Helper

The Outlaw Car Show will be presented at the Helper City Park on June 16.

Registration fees are required for people interested in entering the competition.

The show will include 50 different judging classes

There will also be a Car Cruz along Helper Main Street on Friday, starting at 6:30 p.m. in front of the 50's diner.

The Saturday show will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..

There will be a model car competition for local children and trophies will be awarded to the winners.
