Notices

Deadline for FYI - is Tuesday at noon. Submissions may be sent by regular mail, dropped off at the office at 845 East Main in Price or e-mailed to fyi@sunad.com. Items submitted after the deadline will run in the next week's FYI. All items are subject to editing.

Carbon High 2007 graduates - should pick up diplomas as soon as possible at the school's main office from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Food handlers classes - are scheduled June 20 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the public health department in Price. Two-hour classes will also be taught June 21 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the health district in Castle Dale. Test fees are required. For information, contact Claron Bjork at 637-3671.

Carbon County Humane Society - offers clinics the second Tuesday of the month at 5 S. Carbon Avenue, Price. Contact the society at 637-0588 for appointments.

Immunization clinic hours - Clinics are scheduled at Southeastern Utah Health District Monday through Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Castle Country Habitat for Humanity - is accepting applications. Donations may be sent to PO Box 724, Price, UT 84501. For information, contact the organization at 637-9701.

Women's cancer screening - Women 50 years of age or older may qualify for a free breast and cervical cancer exams and mammograms. For information, call the health district at 637-3671. Women ages 40 to 49 may qualify for a low-cost exam.

Carbon County RSVP - Residents who would like to volunteer or need assistance may contact the Price RSVP office at 637-9118 or call the East Carbon office.

Carbon Family Resource Center - Story time is Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. Open to the community, the lending library includes items for children, teens, parents and grandparents. CFRC is located at Castle Valley Center, 755 N. Cedar Hills Drive, Price. Call the center for hours at 650-3830.



CEU Library - Hours are Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For information, contact the library at 613-5209.

Rape crisis hot line - Rape or domestic violence victims in the Carbon-Emery County area may contact the local 24-hour crisis line toll-free at 1-866-894-8610.

Carbon County Animal Shelter - AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Price library - will be closed until June 10 for inventory and reopen June 11 at 9 a.m. Summer hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Story time is Monday at 11 a.m. for toddlers, Tuesday at 5 p.m., Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m. Residents interested in English as a second language or basic literacy classes Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m. may contact Paula Lewis at the library. Carbon County Family Support and Children's Justice Center - offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Residents may use the nursery for respite, doctor and mental health appointments, court appearances, medical emergencies, family crisis, A/Narcotic Anonymous meetings, divorce classes and to escape domestic violence. Parenting classes are scheduled Thursday at 1:30 p.m. For information, call the center at 637-0281. The center is also collecting donations for displaced families.

Helper library - Hours are Monday through Thursday, noon to 6 p.m.; Friday, noon to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library offers Internet accessible computers and will obtain books for patrons through the inter-facility loan program. For information, contact the library at 472-5601.

CEU Prehistoric Museum -is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For additional information, contact the museum.

Club Notes

UP&L Retirees - The summer picnic will be June 20 at the Helper parkway pavillion. The social will be at 11 a.m. and lunch will be at noon. Make reservations with John Marchino, 895 North 200 East in Price.

NBHA - Events are scheduled at Carbon County Fairgrounds on June 26, July 3, Aug. 7, Aug. 28, Sept. 4 and Sept. 18. District finals are Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. at the Carbon fairgrounds. Dress code applies. Events slated at the Castle Dale arena include June 19, 7 p.m.; July 17, 7 p.m.; July 31, 7 p.m., dress code applies; Aug. 14, 7 p.m.; and Sept. 11, 7 p.m. Fees are required.

Daughters of the Utah Pioneers - The schedule includes: Helper Balance Rock Camp, second Wednesday of the month, 2 p.m.; East Carbon Geneva Camp, third Tuesday of the month, 7 p.m.; Price Juniper Camp, third Wednesday of the month, 6 p.m., senior center; Price Sarah Jane Powell, third Tuesday of the month, 2:30 p.m, the Villa; Wellington Log Cabin Camp, second Wednesday of the month, 2 p.m.; and Price Sunflower Camp, third Thursday of the month, 1 p.m., senior center.

Castle Country Players - Free acoustic jam sessions are the second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. at the CEU music building.

Castle Country King Crawlers - Meetings are the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the county fairgrounds.

Castle Country Quilters - The group meets the third Thursday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the Price senior citizens center lunch room.

BACA - meets at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at Kraync Motor in Price.

Castle Country Fiber Guild - meets the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m.

Carbon County Triad - meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at Price Dispatch. Members focus on law enforcement and aging programs to assist the elderly.

Castle Country OHV - Meetings are the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at the county fairgrounds building.

CUSCRA - meets the second Tuesday of the month at the Log Palace at 7 p.m.

Utah Friends of Paleontology - meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the classroom at CEU Prehistoric Museum. Business meeting is at 6:30 p.m.

Support Groups

Recovery classes - are scheduled Monday to Friday at the Golden Rule Mission in Helper from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Classes include relapse prevention, Big Book, 12 steps, traditions, spirituality and life skills. AA is 6 p.m. daily.

Price Recovery group - meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the CEU computer building.

MS support group- meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at Southeastern Utah Health District, 28 S. 100 East, Price.

Grieving parent support group - For parents who have lost a child, the group meets the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Castleview classroom.

Scooter & Wheelchair Users ADA support group - meets the second Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. at the housing authority, 251 S. 1600 East, Price.

Life Line pregnancy assistance and support - provides alternatives to abortion for women with unplanned pregnancies. Services include testing, pregnancy verification, referrals to community resources and counseling. The 24-hour crisis line number is 636-0700. Donations and volunteers welcomed.

Look Good, Feel Better - The American Cancer Society program helps women address the appearance related side effects of treatment. The group meets the first Monday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m. at Castleview Hospital. To register, call Debbie Prichard at 613-5302.

Cancer resource center - Volunteers are needed to staff the American Cancer Society information center at Castleview Hospital. Hours are flexible and training is free of charge. For information, contact Gail Harding at 613-1132.

Teen parenting class - is scheduled Monday and Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Lighthouse.
