Going into the weekend tied with Snow for fourth place in SWAC standings, the Eagles wanted to make sure they didn't lose ground. Two wins over Snow made sure that they are almost guaranteed at least a fourth place finish in this year's standings. They beat Snow 74-71 and 75 -72 this weekend to take sole possession of fourth.
College of Eastern Utah came out with an aggressive offense to begin Friday night's play. Taking a 15 point lead into the locker room felt pretty good. Snow wasn't about to roll over and concede and chipped away at the lead as the Eagle offense struggled a bit in the second half. But in the end CEU's women hit shots when they needed them to squeak out the victory by three.
Elisha Harris and Staci Little combined for 30 points and Jenny Fiso added 12. Brandi King contributed 11 to the winning effort. Little was a force everywhere on the floor as she pulled in a whooping 17 rebounds and added six blocks.
Knowing they would stay in fourth, the team now had to try and move Snow out of the tie on Saturday night. It looked like the Badger might stay even with CEU as they took a seven point lead into the locker room. The Eagles came out ready to rumble and got their offense in gear. Not only did they erase the seven point lead that Snow had banked away, but they out scored them enough to close out another three point win.
Little had another great game with 11 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots to lead the Eagles to the win. Brandi King came off the bench to lead the CEU team with 12 points. She also had six rebounds and a block. Erin Richardson was the only other CEU player in double figures on the night with 10.
The team have two tough matchups left in the season. This weekend they will do battle with Northern Idaho. The following weekend they will have to face a very tough Southern Idaho on the road. Tip off for this weekend's game will be at 5:30 p.m. This will be the final chance to see the Lady Eagles play at home this season.
