Kristin Hoyt swims to a 4th place finish in the 500 free swim. Many members of the team achieved personal best times at the local meet.

In a dual meet on Saturday, November 18 at the Price Wave pool, the Carbon swim team took on Canyon View. The highly ranked Cedar City team took both the girls and the boys meets, but Coach Phyllis Cox was pleased with the teams showing.

Fantastic! Was the first thing out of her mouth when asked to comment on her team. Twenty out of 12 times posted by the team were personal bests. Veteran swimmer April Sorenson had a great showing against the powerful Cedar City squad. Liz Kobe had the best showing for the girls with a second place finish in the 50 free and a third in the 100 free.

Leo Yu, Thomas Peterson and Brody Jackman all took a first place finish at the meet. Yu had a first place finish in two events; the 200 free and the 100 backstroke. Peterson also took second in the 200 IM. Tim Neilson finished right behind Jackman to take the number two spot in the 100 free.

This is what swimming is all about, remarked Cox. The kids are improving, learning, setting goals, and achieving them. The team had a home meet on Tuesday, November 21 against Juan Diego and Uintah. No results were available at press time.
