Sunnyside 64th Annual Rodeo Royalty Contest - Rodeo July 11 & 12, 2014 at Sunnyside arena. Royalty Contest June 29 at 5 p.m. at the Sunnyside arena. Contest is for Queen and 1st and 2nd attendants, age 13 and up, attendants may continue to compete until making queen. Two princesses, ages 12 and under, may reign for 2 years and then may compete for the Queen's court at age 13. Contestant age is age on the day of the contest. Contestants must ride their horse to a given pattern, ride in the parade on July 12, and move cattle in the arena during the rodeo. No preregistration is required. Carbon County Family Support and Children's Justice Center - offers crisis care for families with children through 11 years old.
The crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Residents may use the nursery for respite, doctor and mental health appointments, court appearances, medical emergencies, family crisis, support meetings, divorce classes and to escape domestic violence.
Parenting classes are held on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 2:30. Please call ahead to reserve a spot in the class.
The center is also collecting donations for displaced families. Furniture items will be accepted only if the center has families in need.
