Local motorist questions gas price discrepancy at pumps in Carbon, Utah counties

Gasoline prices hover near $2.50 per gallon at pumps in the Castle Valley region. On Friday, a Carbon County resident reported that he paid $2.08 per gallon at a pump in Provo last week. He was concerned about the 40 cent per gallon discrepancy in gas prices in a geographical distance of only 60 miles. Upon investigation, the Sun Advocate discovered that, while diesel fuel prices are relatively similar, Carbon County drivers are paying up to 40 cents more per gallon for unleaded gasoline than motorists are being charged at the pumps along the Wasatch Front.
