CEU Women's Basketball Off to a Rocky Start
The CEU women's basketball team began play last Thursday, they traveled south to Cedar City to participate in the Southern Utah College Invitational on November 3 and 4.
Their first opponent was Arizona Western College. The ladies played tough and got it to a one point game with 40 seconds left to play. AWC however pulled ahead in the waning moments to capture the win 62-69 over the Eagles. CEU's Halee Rogers led all scorers with 11 points.
The ladies Saturday game was a match up between the Eagle's and Yavapai Community College. Again CEU held tough and stayed in the game until the end. But the tough and athletic ladies pulled away in the end to hand the Eagle's their second loss. The final score was 72-65. Haley Rasmussen was pivotal in both games handing out assists.
Yavapai and Western Arizona are traditionally ranked in the top 20 in the nation so CEU felt good about their play even though they walked away with two losses.
The Eagles headed to Twin Falls Idaho for the Coke Classic Invitational last weekend but no scores were available for that tournament as of press time.
