Wellington firefighters inspect a damaged vehicle on Dugout Canyon Road on the morning of Oct. 25. Carbon County sheriff deputies reported that a coal truck, operated by Savage, lost traction as it came around a turn. Roads were slushy and while the truck regained traction, the second trailer reportedly slid into the path of oncoming traffic. The driver of the blue compact car was transported by ambulance to Castleview Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. Shortly after emergency crews arrived on the scene, a Savage plow truck scraped the road, dumping extra salt and sand on some of the tighter turns. The incident halted all truck traffic on the road while crews cleared the scene.
