Brenda Davis handles the ball during a game with North Sanpete last week. Even though the team finished with a disappointing record this year, the young squad has all but four players returning next year.

In their final game of the season, the Dino girl's soccer team met up with a good Delta squad. Buoyed by their close loss earlier this year, the team was not ready to concede their season to the Lady Rabbits yet.

Even though they finished up their season with a final 4-1 defeat, the team knows they made a lot of progress in their play as the season wound down.

The first period of play resulted in something that Carbon has not had a chance to experience most of the season, that was a one-one tie at the break. Felicia Olmos continued her offensive competency by finding the net in yet another game. The team held the Rabbits to only one score as well. This was a vast improvement to earlier games as Carbon was often down by three or more by the half.

Unfortunately Delta was able to explode offensively in the second half and added three to send the Dinos home without a region win. The late power from Delta was a little too much for a team that had played so hard in the last two games only to come up short. They just didn't have the effort in them they had shown earlier and finished up the season with lack luster finish.

Coach Tanya Henrie was pleased with the way her team played though and is amazed at their progress through out the season.

"It was just too short," she remarked," next year our goal is to lengthen our season by making it to state."

Since the team is only losing four players to graduation this year, Henrie expects to start next season with a much stronger squad next fall. She is hoping that most of the team returns for another season and benefits from the painful learning curve they endured this season.

Almost all of the girls are expressing excitement at the prospect of next year's season.
