Just a few weeks after assembling the team, the cross country runners headed to Richfield for an invitational meet with eight other teams.

Paul Goodrich was the top Carbon runner, placing fourth overall. He was just 39 seconds out of first place. Beau Morley also placed with a 15th spot finish.

Quickly the team moved on to Moab for an invitational meet on September 2nd. Elizabeth Smith took time out of her soccer schedule to compete. She placed fourth in her division and 7th overall. She has not been training for cross country and relied only on her soccer conditioning to see her through.

Kent Olsen also place 7th in the varsity run. In the JV division, Andrew Bates placed 8th followed by Kaeden Kulow in 10th. All of the boys on the team improved their times over the previous meet.

Three days later, September 5th, the squad went down to Emery High for a meet. Four teams participated in the meet. Carbon placed 3rd behind Delta and Emery with Juan Diego taking last in the team standings.

The course was set in Ferron and Paul Goodrich ran away from the field with a solid first place finish. He was 1.5 minutes faster than the second place competitor from Emery. Beau Morley took 4th and Kent Olsen placed 8th.

Jaren Richens and Brett Wells both added points to the team total with their runs.

The team will head to North Sanpete to participate in a meet on September 13th.
