Even in a drought wildflowers show up in some places

While many parts of the desert are devoid of wild flowers this spring, the mountains still have many that want to show off. These flowers were photographed in the Flat Canyon area near some water. On the dryer side of things, a few flowers have appeared on the San Rafael Swell, but mostly of the cactus variety. The blankets of blossoms that usually cover many of the meadows on that geologic wonder have just not shown up this year.
