Carbon girls soccer team lose first home game
|The battle on the field for the ball was hot last week when Union came to town. |
Coach Tanya Henrie felt like her team was a little more focused on the first day of school than on the soccer game looming ahead last week.
Union High School strode into town for a 1:00 p.m. game with the Dinos minutes after the school bell rang from a half day session and they took the team to a second session of classes, beating the Lady Dinos 4-0 in Carbon's first home game of the year.
Union came on strong using speed to outplay Carbon and before halftime had racked up three goals. Carbon spent much of the first half on defense and had only a few chances to get close to their goal.
The Dinos tried to defend Union using a man to man defense in the first half of play. In the second half of play they regrouped and switched to a more effective zone defense and held Union to a single score.
Veronica Cazares and Kelsea Tatton were two forces for the Dinos that kept the team in the game. They both hustled on defense and neither girl would sit during the entire game.
Carbon will take on Millard on their home field on Aug. 29 at 3:30 p.m.
Then on Sept. 7 they will get another shot at Grand, a team they beat earlier this season.
