Sinkhole at learning center troubles east county residents

An ankle-deep sinkhole spans almost a complete parking stall in front of the ABC Learning Center in East Carbon. Orlando LaFontaine, mayor of East Carbon and a board member at the center, recently approached the owner of the property, Carbon County, regarding the sinkhole. With funds tight at the city and the learning center, LaFontaine requested the county's assistance in repairing what appears to be a broken waterline under the parking lot. County commissioners agreed to provide equipment to excavate the area if the city or the learning center can provide a plumber to make the repairs.
