Blue team players bring down a white opponent during the blue and white game on Saturday night. With the two teams united, will they have a successful season? That question will start to be answered on Friday night when the first preseason game of the season takes place on the Dino field.

They may be a new football team, but Carbon High football coach JP Salisbury isn't taking them lightly.

The American Leadership Academy located in Spanish Fork will be a 2A school playing in Region 14 (Juab, North Summit, Rowland Hall, South Summit, Waterford) this year when it competes in athletics, because even though they have 1100 students, which is more than Carbon High in the 3A classification, many of them are under 15 years old, because they are a K-12 school.

Many people haven't heard of this school because, first, they are a charter school, and second they haven't been around that long. On top of that this is their first year competing in football.

But that shouldn't count them out before they play a game this year. Because of their charter nature, they can recruit great players all over the Wasatch Front, and according to some sources they have.

So what happens in this game is truly a mystery until Friday night at 7 p.m. when the two teams square off on Carbon High's field.

The Carbon blue and white game, which was held last Saturday proved at least one thing; enthusiams for Carbon football is high once again. The coaches and players showed it, and so did the crowd.

The blue team defeated the white team 21-7, but both sides made some great plays and had down times too. Early seaons mistakes and jitters were evident.

However a couple of things transpired in the last few days that will change the makeup of the Carbon team temporilly. First JJ Blue was injured in the intrasquad game and will not be available on Friday night.

In addition two other players have been injured as well and will not be there for the game against the Eagles, which is coached by Ron Olsen.

It will be an interesting game, pitting a new program against one with a very old football tradition.
