Although they didn't win any championship honors, the two local entries in the WBBA little world series at Logan came away with very respectful records in the week long tournament completed last Saturday.
After a disappointing first day start, Carbon Blue compiled a 4-1 record and Carbon White finished the tournament with a 2-3 record.
Heavy rain delayed the opening of the tournament on Tuesday so the teams had to wait until Wednesday to play.
In those Wednesday contests Carbon White was an 8-0 victim of Idaho Falls Westside in their pool play action.
In addition, Carbon Blue also failed to score the first day, falling to Ammon, Idaho, 2-0 in an airtight game.
Continuing pool play in double headers Thursday to make up for the missed day of play, Carbon White came back to defeat Syracuse by a 12-8 score.
Carbon Blue quickly moved into the winner's circle also, overwhelming Vernal Red, 19-5.
Later in the day Logan handed the White team a 15-0 setback while Carbon Blue continued its winning ways by downing Kearns American, 4-1, to make a strong bid to enter the championship round.
This was not to be, however.
Tournament rules deemed that any ties in pool play would be settled by the least amount of runs the teams allowed in pool play. Carbon Blue, in a tie with Grantsville, each at 2-1, had allowed eight runs as opposed to Grantsville's five, thus allowing the Tooele County entry to move into the semi-final title round on Friday.
This left Carbon Blue facing Vernal Red on Friday to rack up Blue's third win of the meet by a 17-3 score.
On that same day Morgan handed Carbon White a 13-3 loss.
Final day action on Saturday saw Carbon Blue thrash Morgan, 14-1 and Carbon White get back on a winning track by outlasting Vernal Red, 6-2.
South Cache won the championship game on Saturday, defeating Ammon, Idaho, 5-3, and Idaho Falls. Westside took third place, edging by Grantsville, 5-4 in an extra inning game.
Carbon Blue, due to the seeding took what was basically the consolation championship, a fifth place finish.
