Price officials honor Yard of the Month recipients
As part of the city's beautification efforts, Price honored a handful of city residents whose maintain yards worthy of recognition.
Yards are judged based on a variety of factors, among them: neatness, clean and orderly, beauty, display of water conservation, uniqueness, well-trimmed curb and gutter and clean parking strip.
Members of a community progress committee judge the yards and made their decision based only on the front yard, though many residents' back yards are more beautiful than the front.
The city is divided into multiple regions, with one recipient in each region. Delores Sandoval, chairperson of the yard of the month committee, and Mayor Joe Piccolo presented recipients with the award on June 20.
Recipients of the award receive a sign to display in their yard for one month. In addition, they receive a smaller sign which they can keep.
Colleen Neeley's home in the northeast region of Price features a troll garden.
Archie and Melanie Hamilton represent the northeast area. Archie gave all the credit to Melanie.
Tino and Lena Marquez's home in the southeast region uses rock features to cut down on water use.
Paul and Ruth Ann Leturgez and their family represent the southwest region of the city.
