Deadline for FYI - is Tuesday at 5 p.m. Submissions may be sent by regular mail, dropped off at the office at 845 East Main in Price or e-mailed to fyi@sunad.com. Items submitted after the deadline will run in the next week's FYI. All items are subject to editing.

Carbon County Humane Society - offers clinics the second Tuesday of the month in the basement at 5 South Carbon Avenue in Price. Call the society at 637-0588 for appointments. The group is also looking for members. For details, call Nancy Boyle at 637-3320, Brenda Pappas or Martha Bocook.

Immunization clinic hours - Clinics are scheduled at Southeastern Utah Health District Monday through Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Castle Country Habitat for Humanity - Volunteers and board members are needed. Donations may be sent to HHCC, PO Box 724, Price, UT 84501. Residents may volunteer for workdays, donate aluminum cans, sponsor a fundraiser or obtain applications by calling Katherine Foster at 650-0074.

East Carbon Neighborhood Watch - Sunnyside, Columbia and East Carbon residents are urged to attend Neighborhood Watch meetings the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the senior center.

Free legal clinics - Utah Legal Services has scheduled free clinics the second and fourth Monday of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the district court complex, 149 E. 100 South, Price. Residents should bring all documents pertaining to questions. For information, call the agency toll-free at 1-800-662-1563.

Price Main Street program - The board meets the first Wednesday of the month at noon in room 207 of Price City Hall. For more information, contact Melanie Steele at 820-1290.

Women's cancer screening - Women 50 years of age or older may qualify for a free breast and cervical cancer exams and mammograms. For information, call the health district at 637-3671. Women ages 40 to 49 may qualify for a low-cost exam.

Carbon County RSVP - Residents who would like to lend a helping hand or need volunteers may contact the Price office at 637-9118 or the East Carbon office at 888-2223..

Cans for CARE-A-VAN - Donations assist the elderly with transportation to medical appointments. Aluminum cans may be dropped off at Howa's on Carbonville Road. Local residents may also call the program at 637-9488 to make pick up arrangements. Cans must be bagged.

Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation - needs adult volunteers to feed orphaned animals and clean facilities. Donations are accepted. Dedicated hunter hours may be worked through the program. Call Debbie Pappas at 650-3441 for information.

Doghouses needed - Carbon County Humane Society members will collect donated doghouses at local residences.

Castleview Hospital Auxiliary - The Pink Ladies are accepting applications for volunteers. Contact Sherline Riche at 472-5278.

Helper community development committee - meets Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the civic auditorium

Children's story, craft hour - CEU Museum will host children's story and craft hour Fridays at 2 p.m. in the discovery room. Call the museum at 637-5060 for information.

CASA volunteers needed - Court appointed special advocate volunteers are men and women who want to help abused and neglected children. Residents interested in volunteering may contact the CASA coordinator at (435) 381-5595.

Carbon Family Resource Center - Story time is Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. CFRC is a free lending library open to the community. Library includes items for children, teens, parents and grandparents. CFRC is located at Castle Valley Center, 755 N. Cedar Hills Drive, Price. Call the center for hours at 650-3830. Volunteers are needed.

CEU Library - Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. The library is closed on weekends during school breaks. For information, contact the library at 613-5209.

Rape crisis hot line - Rape or domestic violence victims in the Carbon-Emery County area may contact the local 24-hour crisis line toll-free at 1-866-894-8610.

Golden Rule Mission - Residents may donate tax-deductible garage/yard sale leftovers to the Golden Rule Mission in Helper.

Foster Care Foundation - Residents interested in becoming foster parents may contact Heather Ogden at 636-0210.

Carbon County Animal Shelter - AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Books for shut-ins - Helper City Library will deliver books to shut-ins. Call the library at 472-5601.

Price library - Hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Story time is Tuesday at 5 p.m., Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m. Toddler story time is Monday at 11 a.m. Sign up is required to participate in reading with a PAWS animal Wednesdays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Teen night is July 13 at 5 p.m. Story time for unusual pets will be July 11 and July 12 at 5 p.m. and July 13 at 1 p.m. The library is looking for old paperback books. For information, contact the library at 636-3188.

Family Support & Children's Justice Center - offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting classes, divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings. Parenting classes are scheduled Thursday at 1:30 p.m. For information, call the center at 637-0281.

Helper library - is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Saturday and Sunday. The library offers patron internet accessible computers and games are available to patrons. Hours are subject to change for more convenience. For information, contact the library during business hours at 472-5601. The library is looking for volunteers for improvements.

CEU museum - Fees have changed. Next exhibition will be Brushstrokes and Bronze. Artists' opening is July 7 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Exhibit will be through Sept. 30, featuring Joseph Venus, Gary Prazen, James Madsen and Dan Blanton. Food handlers classes - will be taught in Price July 11, Aug. 22 and Sept. 27 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the health department. Castle Dale classes will be July 13, Aug. 24 and Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the health department. Green River classes will be July 20 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the city hall. Fees are required. Events

Sunnyside Rodeo - will be July 7 and July 8.

International Days - Price city will present the event during the last week of July. The schedule includes:

July 27, opening ceremonies and a wave pool party.

July 28, booths, entertainment, recreation activities, a carnival and movies in the park.

July 29, Lions breakfast, pet contest, entertainment, booths, recreation and movies.

Limited booth space is available only by contacting the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce at 637-2788.

Community Daze - The Sunnyside-East Carbon event is slated July 7 and July 8 at Sunnyside Park. Activities include breakfast in the park, a parade, classic car show, booths, food entertainment, prizes, horseshoe tournament and movies. A rodeo will be presented July 8.

Rabbit show - The Southeastern Junior Livestock Show event is scheduled July 7 at 5 p.m. at the Ferron rodeo grounds. All breeds and pet rabbits are welcome. For information, contact Dan James at 435-384-3367.

Castle Country Horse Show Association - Shows are slated at the Carbon County Fairgrounds on July 22, Aug. 13 and Sept. 2. Registration is at 8 a.m. Fees are required.

Clothing giveaway - is scheduled Aug. 4 at the family support and children's justice center in Price. For eight years, the center has organized the giveaway for children in the Castle Valley area who need clothes and supplies to start school. Residents are encouraged to donate new school supplies, new or gently used book bags, gift cards and gently used clothing and shoes by July 21. For information or to arrange to have items picked up, residents may call the center at 637-0281.

Wellington Mountaineers Rodeo -is slated July 21 and July 22 at 7 p.m. at the Wellington arena. Contestant sign-ups open July 10 and close July 17. Queen contest is July 9 at 6 p.m. at the Wellington arena Contact Kathie Thayn after 6 p.m. at 636-0158.

Emery cheerleading clinic - UCA-United Cheerleading Association will visit Emery County and present a one-day clinic July 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for youth 5 years old to junior high age. Registration fees include lunch. To pre-register, contact Debbie Bunnell at 435-687-2632.

Wellington Pioneer Days - The schedule includes:

July 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., roast beef and lamb dinner, with entertainment by Charlie Simms.

July 22 from 7 to 9 a.m., breakfast in the park; 10 a.m. parade; 11 a.m., booths, food, entertainment and activities for kids; noon, horseshoe tournament and fun toss.

Soldier Summit reunion - is slated July 8 with a potluck dinner. Bring camping equipment to spend the night.

Support Groups

Recovery classes - are scheduled Monday to Friday at the Golden Rule Mission in Helper from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Classes include elapse prevention, Big Book, 12 steps, traditions, spirituality and life skills. AA is 6 p.m. daily.

Price Recovery group - meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the CEU computer building.

Recovery Inc. - The Price self-help group for people with nervous symptoms and fears meets Thursday at 7 p.m. at Banasky Insurance, located at 6 W. Main , Price.

Reach to Recovery - The American Cancer Society program matches a diagnosed breast cancer patient with a trained survivor who can answer questions and address concerns. For information, residents may call the organization toll-free at 1-800-ACS-2345.

MS support group- meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at Southeastern Utah Health District, 28 S. 100 East, Price. Wheelchair accessible. For information, call the health department at 637-0712.

FUTURES - The Carbon County NAMI affiliate, a support group developed for families who have children with challenges, meets the first and third Wednesday of the month. The first Wednesday is designated as a caregiver support night. The third Wednesday is family activity night.

Scooter & Wheelchair Users ADA support group - meets the second Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. at the housing authority, 251 S. 1600 East, Price.

Domestic violence support groups - are scheduled weekly. For information, call the 24-hour crisis line at 637-6589.

Single mothers support group - meets Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Price Community Center. No fees required.

Price Naranon - The group meets Monday at 8 p.m. at the Price Alano Club.

Donations and volunteers welcomed.

Look Good, Feel Better - The American Cancer Society program helps women address the appearance related side effects of treatment. The group meets the first Monday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m. at Castleview Hospital.

Cancer resource center - needs volunteers to help staff the facility at Castleview Hospital.
