BLM Accepting Comments on Proposed Non-motorized Competitive Recreation Event
The Moab field office of the United States Bureau of Land Management recently released an environmental assessment for a purposed non-motorized competitive recreation event in the Price and Moab field offices.
USA Recreation and Tours has applied for a special permit to conduct a multi-day, multi-sport event for 90 teams of four participants in the summer 2006, according to the federal agency.
Under the proposal, the participants in the recreation event would hike, canyoneer, rock climb, horseback ride, mountain bike, kayak and swim on a 275 mile course on public lands.
The environmental assessment is available to Carbon County residents with Internet access at www.blm.gov/utah/moab. The document is also available at the BLM Moab field office.
The federal agency will accept public comments on the proposal through June 15 at the BLM, 82 E. Dogwood, Moab, UT 84532.
