Beth Ellis

PRICE - Beth Melba Laursen Ellis, age 86, passed away May 28, 2006 while surrounded by her family at the Heirloom Inn.

She was born Jan. 29,1920 in American Fork to Edward and Pearl Chipman Laursen. Married Charles L. Ellis Nov. 20, 1941 in Helper; he died Aug. 21, 1990.

Beth graduated from the CEU nursing program in 1968 and later went to work at Carbon Hospital as an LPN.

She was actively involved in the Helper mining museum, where she volunteered every Wednesday.

Beth was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Carbonite Ladies and National Chapeau Passe.

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will never be forgotten. Baseball games will never be the same.

"As a granddaughter, I was her pride and joy and she always gave me praise and encouragement. Grandma Beth loved her great-grandsons with all her heart. She was always so proud of her Little Christopher and she called him that even after he grew a foot taller than her. She loved to watch Michael play baseball and she was his greatest fan. We all will miss her beautiful smile."

Beth is survived by her son, Edward L. (Margaret A.) Ellis, Price; granddaughter, Anna Lee (James) Cordova, Price; great-grandsons, Christopher and Michael Cordova, both of Price; brothers, Edward C. (Vivian) Laursen, Brigham City; Carl Eugene Laursen, West Valley. Preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents; brother, Kenneth Laursen; and sister, Maxine Laursen.

Graveside service, Thursday, June 1, 1 p.m., American Fork City Cemetery. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m.

Jesse Arroyo

SUNNYSIDE - Jesse D. Arroyo Sr., age 90, passed away peacefully May 27, 2006 in Price.

He was born Nov. 13, 1915 in Penjamo, GTO, Mexico to Dioneicio Veltran and Frances Delgado. Married Mary Barajas June 15, 1940 in Boulder, Colo.

Member of the Catholic Church.

Jesse was a resident of Sunnyside since 1947, where he later retired from Kaiser Steel Local 9958.

He enjoyed mechanicking, gardening, building model airplanes, doing carpentry work around his home and fixing things for his neighbors. Jesse had a great love for music and he especially loved playing his guitar and trumpet. For many years while living in Colorado, he enjoyed playing in a band.

Jesse had a wonderful sense of humor and he always made everyone feel welcome at his home.

Survived by his loving wife, Mary Arroyo, Sunnyside; three sons, Louis (Carolyn) Arroyo, Salt Lake City; Alex (Sherry) Arroyo, Helper; Dennis Arroyo, Sunnyside; nine loving grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and longtime friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jesse Arroyo Jr.

Funeral Mass, Wednesday, May 31, 10 a.m., Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Vigil service, Tuesday evening, 7 p.m., at the church in East Carbon. Family will be at Good Shepherd Catholic Church Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Polly Jaramillo

PRICE - Hepolita "Polly" Lopez Jaramillo, age 78, passed away May 27, 2006 while surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Sept. 2, 1927 in Monticello to Antonio and Rebecca Salazar Lopez. Married Manuel D. Jaramillo Dec. 24, 1947 in Dragerton; he passed away Feb. 4, 1975.

Member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church.

She was a volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, served as past-president of Guadlepanas and CYO.

She enjoyed bowling, bingo, puzzles, and word finds were some of her favorite pasttimes.

Polly lived for her family and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved being the center of her famiy's lives and she will be dearly missed by all.

Survived by three daughters and son, Marcella (David) Doporto, Price; Philip (Barb) Jaramillo, Olympia, Wash.; Eva (Jay) Bennett, West Valley; Sherry (Bob) Arellano, Price; brothers and sisters, Joe Lopez, Layton; Inez Lopez, Salt Lake City; Fermin (Stephanie) Lopez, Raton, N.M.; Ruth Ann (Rudy) Ortiz, Price; sisters-in-law, Lydia Trujillo, Ouray, Colo.; Teresa Lopez, Fruita, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Tony Lopez.

Funeral Mass, Thursday, June 1,10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service Wednesday evening, 7 p.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Family will be at the church Wednesday and Thursday one hour prior to service. Committal service, Price City Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

LouVerda Reed

ELMO - LouVerda (MacKelprang) Reed, 67, of Elmo, passed away peacefully May 24, 2006 surrounded by her family.

She was born Jan. 17, 1939 in Long Beach, Calif., To Willard and Maurine (Brinkerhoff) Mackelprang. She married John Gordon Reed March 18, 1960 in Fresno, Calif.

LouVerda's was at her happiest when surrounded by her family and friends.

She was active in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, where she served for many years as captain of the Lily of the Valley camp and as an officer in the Emery company.

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in numerous callings.

She also enjoyed cooking and spending time gardening.

Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild were her life.

She is survived by children, John Brad (Geri Lyn) Reed of Orangeville; Bert Willard (Christy) Reed of Elmo; and Sherrie Hansen of Huntington; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Also survived by sisters, Vida M. Leigh of Midvale, and Rue Dell Sudweeks of Sandy; brothers, Dr. Alonzo J. (Sandra) Mackelprang of Springfield, Ill., and Willard Stephen (Julie) Mackelprang of Springcreek, Nev. Preceded in death by husband; parents; son, Ronald Clete Reed; and brother, Benion B. Mackelprang.

Services will be Tuesday, May 30, noon, at the Elmo LDS Ward Chapel. Friends are invited to call one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment, Elmo City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.

Marvin Perry

EAST CARBON - Marvin Ralph Perry, 87, of East Carbon, passed away on May 25, 2006 in Price.

He was born June 29, 1918 in Vernal, the son of Floyd and Pearl (McConkie) Perry. He married Francis Ellsworth on Feb. 3, 1940 and later married Eva (Peterson) Fisher on May 23, 1990.

Marvin enjoyed the outdoors, where he loved to hunt and fish.

He was a member of the LDS Church.

He is survived by his sons, Dean (Jolene) Perry of Salt Lake, Kenneth Perry of Nevada; daughter-in-law, Ina Perry; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by two sisters, Helen Walquist of Salt Lake and Thelma Jenkins of Vernal. Preceded in death by wife, Francis; wife, Eva; son, Laird Perry; mother and father; three brothers, Ray, Leland and Lyle Perry; and sister, Sybial Perry.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, May 30, 1 p.m., at Price City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary. Friends are invited to call one hour prior to services at the mortuary.
