Utah Power's charitable arm, the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, contributed more than $27,000 to United Way of Southeastern Utah this spring. Most of that funding, $20,500, matched Utah Power and PacifiCorp employee donations from the utility's 2005 employee giving campaign. Altogether, employee donations and PacifiCorp contributions to United Way of Southeastern Utah totaled more than $47,000.
The remaining portion of PacifiCorp Foundation funding, nearly $6,800, was presented to United Way of Southeastern Utah President-Elect Joni Hackwell by Utah Power's regional community manager, Deb Dull. The check presentation took place at a Carbon County Chamber of Commerce meeting on May 18.
Employees from the utility's Hunter, Huntington and Carbon power plants; Price, Moab and Blanding service centers; and affiliate Energy West Mining donated a total of $20,500 to United Way of Southeastern Utah, through the company's 2005 employee giving campaign. The PacifiCorp Foundation joined with employees from throughout Utah to give more than $350,000 to United Way organizations statewide.
"We are pleased to support United Way of Southeastern Utah's efforts to assist local residents, through both the PacifiCorp Foundation and individual employee donations," said Dull. "Our employees value the significant contribution United Way of Southeastern Utah makes in the communities we live and work in, and continue to provide support for United Way programs year after year."
