Youth wrestlers place a local, state and nationals

Coach Montel Jackman recently took his Carbon Raptor wrestlers to the U.S. National Folkstyle Wrestling Tournament.

The level of competition at the national level is tough, but the Carbon Raptors performed well.

Kaiden Lewis and Caleb Williams placed first. Nathan Velasquez finished second, with Johnny O'Hearon taking third. Talor O'Hearon also took home a sixth place finish.

Teammate Bryce Jackman cheered from the sideline and was unable to compete because he is mending a broken arm.

The season started back in February with the team competing in both freestyle and Greco wrestling. Bryce Jackman and Caleb Williams each started strong with a first place finish in the U.S.A. Kickoff Classic. The meet was free style wrestling. Several team mates went to a tournament in Moab to wrestle in a folk style meet. Nathan Velasquez, Nico Velasquez, Johnny O'Hearon and Connor Fausett all placed first.

Late February saw Caleb Williams traveling to Box Elder to participate in both a Greco and free style meet. He took first in both styles. Johnny O'Hearon attended a meet in Colorado and took first in the Montrose Little Indian's Tournament. Williams traveled to his third tournament of the weekend and he and O'Hearon took a first place in the Tiger Paw Classic.

Caleb Williams participated in the Delta Classic in Colorado on March 4 winning both a first places as well as the outstanding wrestler award.

Williams and O'Hearon then competed in the AAU Southwestern Regionals. Again both wrestlers garnered a first place finish. Williams fought conquest with a double overtime victory.

Coach Jackman has been training the wrestlers since October.

The Club has several dedicated boys who commit at least three nights a week to practice. They are all hard working and dedicated.

Their families are equally as dedicated making sure that the boys can compete week after week in tournaments throughout a several states.
