Chalk another game up in the loss column for the Carbon girls softball team. Tuesday's 18-3 loss to Granite has left the team and Coach Tony Pinedo puzzled as to what to do next. Pinedo expressed that he still believes in this team and knows they can be competitive. However the lopsided losses are getting to the squad.

After a seven run inning for Granite, Coach Pinedo shook up the line up a bit and the team played a bit stronger. Errors are hurting the team and they committed six in this game. Senior Tabby Cummins is back playing for the first time since ninth grade. She is just now starting to get her swing back and hit an RBI double to show she is ready to help the team.

Granite is a strong team in every aspect of the game. They have a strong pitching rotation and great hitting and fielding. The reverse can be said for the Dinos this year. They are struggling in each of the same areas.

"You can be weak in one area or the other and still be competitive, but being weak in all three is a problem," said Pinedo.

Patience is what Pinedo is looking for right now. He is ready to put the losses behind them and be ready for the rest of the season. With a little growing up, he believes this team can still surprise everyone.

The team then traveled to Delta Thursday to meet up with the Rabbits. This time the results were a bit more encouraging. The Rabbits are sitting in the middle of the Region 8 standings and have eight victories under their belt. Carbon has yet to register a win. The 3-1 loss was an improvement on recent play. The defense only allowed one inning where more than one run was scored. Carbon actually out hit the Delta squad 5 hits to 4.

Meesha Rasmussen found her stroke with a double. Paige Pinedo pitched a good game and held the Rabbits to the four hits. Two errors were committed by the Dinos in their loss.

Pinedo was happy with the game he saw his team play.

"They had a different attitude as they took the field," he said, "It's a step in the right direction!"

The Team will match up with Emery on April 4th at the new Carbon High softball field with game time at 3:30.
