Local family competes in state karate championship

Three local family members Shirley, Bridget, and Gwendolyn Coyne, recently competed in the annual Utah Open Karate Championship in Salt Lake City. The tournament was open to all styles of karate and attracted competitors from across the nation. Amongst the Coyne family, five trophies were captured. Shirley walked away with a first place finish in her division in Kumite and finished in second place in Kata. Bridget finished first in Kata and second in Kumite, while Gwendolyn placed first in Kumite.
