Carbon swim team heads to state

The Carbon High swimming team did well at the region championships recently.

Many swimmers on the team achieved their best times of the year. Leo Yu placed first in the 100 backstroke and second in the 50 freestyle.

Thomas Peterson placed third in both the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly.

Other boys that went to region included senior David Youso, junior Jimmy Dilley, sophomores Michael Rigby, Jeremy Berdan, Jerid Clark, and freshmen Terrance Henrie, Cameron Noyes, Ryan Slane, Randy Slane and Jordan Nelson.

Girls who participated in region included senior Bonnie Jo Peterson, sophomores Kelsey Gillespie, Megan Brandon, April Sorensen, Ali Baum and freshmen Amanda Ewan, Erica Perkins and Morgan Johnson.

During the meet it was announced that both Peterson and Youso were named academic all region.

Qualifiers from the team will participate in the state swimming meet this weekend at BYU.
