STANDARDVILLE - Dorothy Marvosh Zupon passed Friday evening, Jan. 13, 2006 in a peaceful setting with loved ones at her side. Dorothy's body succumbed to a short and intense battle with cancer but her considerable love and spirit carries on.
Dorothy was the youngest child of Louis and Stella Marvosh, born in 1930.
Dorothy's youth and formative years took place in Standardville, (Carbon County) and oh what wonderful years they were (according to legend). This wonderful coal camp setting instilled in her tremendous values of unconditional love, nonjudgmental open mindedness and a strong desire to simply be kind to everyone that she encountered. She was a warm friend to all and was everyone's "Grandma". She had a gift for making everyone feel special.
Dorothy had oodles of friends and particularly enjoyed her mornings spent with "the gang" at the Holladay Lion's Fitness Center swimming pool.
Dorothy is survived by dazzling children, Mitzi (Jay) MacKay, Max (Beverly), Michael (Shizuko), Mark (Marilyn) and Paul (Jennifer); seven grandchildren, Bart, Matt, Suzy, Eric, Andrew, Bryan and Alyssa; and two great-grandchildren, Macy and Anthony. Also survived by beloved sister, Mary O'Brien. She is preceded in death by sister, Sophia Hermansen; and brother, Joseph Marvosh.
Memorial services will be Jan. 21, noon, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to services. Celebration of life to follow services.
Dorothy's family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of CareSource for the loving and exceptional care she received. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Dorothy's name to the CareSource Charitable Association, 1624 E. 450 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84117.
