Meesha Rasmussen was one of the mainstays on the Lady Dino team by scoring 12 points against Juan Diego. Every Carbon player will need to be on top of their game when they face Emery on Thursday night in the Dinogym.

The Lady Dinos are sitting where few thought they would be this year.

They are tied with Emery for the lead in Region 8 play after a 47-34 victory over new Region 8 entry Juan Diego.

Emery has the edge over Carbon by a few percentage points, sporting a better over all record, but the Dinos are playing some of their best ball of the season. A strong showing on the road against Juan Diego showed that the squad is determined to try a repeat as 3A champions this year.

Meesha Rasmussen led the Dinos with 12 points with the support of Jamie King who added 11 of her own. The Dinos hit three long balls. Rasmussen was successful twice from behind the arc and Megan Garvin hit one.

The team came out to take an early lead and by the end of the first quarter they were up by three.

Defense was the key in the second quarter. The Dinos held the Soaring Eagles to four points, while only scoring eight themselves. In the defensive struggle they held a comfortable lead of seven by the end of the half.

Carbon got both sides of their games going in the third quarter. They were able to put 17 on the boards while limiting Juan Diego to eight.

However the Screaming Eagles stepped up their offense in the fourth, but the damage was done. Carbon cruised to their third region victory.

With the win the Dinos overall record has improved to 9-6.

The Lady Dinos continue their play on the road with a game at North Sanpete on Tuesday.

Then they will return home on Thursday to play a much anticipated game with Emery. That game will start at 7 p.m. at Carbon High.
