Smoke billows as state burns slash piles

A slash pile at the top of Spring Canyon on the way to Scofield goes up in flames last week. Some motorists traveling on Utah Highway 96 thought a cabin was on fire, but the smoke came from state workers burning gathered materials from the forest floor.
