A winter sports enthusiast skates across the frozen surface of Gigliotti Pond in Helper. In warmer temperatures, the pond is a popular fishing hole. But freezing temperatures have transformed the pond into a site for a different type of sport. Carbon County residents are encouraged to test ice thickness before deciding to skate at the fishing hole in Helper as well as on all ponds in the Castle Valley area.
