Without an opponent in sight, Keith Barton makes an easy layup.

The Dinos continued their winning ways by defeating a tough Union team 40-38. Neither team shot well the first quarter. The Cougars out scored the Dinos by one point in the first period of play.

Carbon's defense put the clamps on the boys from Union, allowing only two points from them in the second quarter. The Dinos got their offense going at the same time, pushing the lead at the half to 19-10.

Carbon could not sustain the intensity after the break and within five minutes of play Union had pulled back, trailing by just two points. Even though the Cougars again outscored the Dinos in the third quarter 13-6, Carbon held a two-point edge. In the final quarter the teams traded buckets and Carbon held on for a two point victory.

The Dino offensive effort was spread across the team. Jordan Moynier led the scoring effort for Carbon with nine points. Schyler Nammany shot seven. Chase Julian and Parker Parsons each contributed six. Brandon Wilson added five, with Brian Gazell hitting four. Keith Barker had two, while Cole Warburton with one, rounded off the scoring.

The Dinos suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the Ogden Tigers on Friday night, losing 45-57.

Carbon outscored the Tigers by one in the first quarter, but lost the lead by the end of the half.

The Dinos did not have any players score in double figures. Jordan Moynier and Chase Julian led the team with seven points each. Schyler Namanny, Bryan Gazell and Julian each nailed shots from behind the three-point line. The Tigers had two dominant scorers that led them to victory. Zack Preston and Bryson Dykster of Ogden combined for 31 points.

In the end, the final quarter of play was where Ogden put the hammer down. They outscored the Dinos 18-10.

Carbon will look to regroup before its next game on Thursday night. It will be a home game against Springville. It should prove to be a great game with Springville also looking to avenge their first loss of the season at the hands of Dixie on Friday night.
