Official Red Cross Katrina Disaster Donation Center - at Sears, 74 So. Carbon Ave. in Price. Donations can be made by check or cash - sorry, no credit card charges! Sears will match up to $500,000 in customer donations.

DUP Yard Sale - Daughters of Utah Pioneers will hold a yard sale October 14 & 15 at 68 So. 100 East in Price from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Women's Cancer Screening - Testing, Easy as One, Two, Free. If you're 50 or older, you most likely qualify for a free breast and cervical cancer screening exam and a free mammogram. To find out call 637-3671. Women between 40 and 49 years old may qualify for a low cost exam.

Carbon County RSVP - Responding to Community Needs Through Volunteer Service. Volunteers are the heart of our organization and our community. Come join a group of like-minded individuals who volunteer their time toward making a meaningful contribution in Carbon County. Local organizations will value your time, talent, and consideration. Helper City Community Development Committee - All interested parties are invited to attend the Community Development Committee Meeting of Helper City every Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the meeting room at the Helper Civic Auditorium or in the Library in the Auditorium.

Free Legal Clinic - is held every second and fourth Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Price Courthouse, 149 E. 100 South in Price. Call Utah Legal Services Inc. at 1-800-662-1563 to set up an appointment. If you have general legal questions or are filing paperwork and have some questions come get help. Bring your questions and all the documents that you have pertaining to your question or case. Please note that the clinic scheduled for Monday, October 10 has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 11, 2005.

Habitat for Humanity - is alive, well and building! To help on a workday, for an application or for information call Katherine at 650-0074 and leave a message, or call Sylvia at 687-9184. Volunteers and board members needed from both Carbon and Emery. Always collecting aluminum cans, call Sylvia for pick-up or drop off to Dave at Price Salvage, 510 East 1250 South in Price, 637-8609. Items Needed - Family Support and Children's Justice Center is in continuous need of the following items: canned goods, noodles, top ramen, tuna fish, soups, toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, paper plates, plastic cups, dish soap, diapers and wipes. New and used clothing is always accepted (new underwear only please). No donation too big or too small, we accept them all. Please remember that when you donate items to the center, they are going right back to the community. We serve children in the Carbon and Emery counties. There is no charge to families for items or the service we provide. We operate on grants and private donations. We need people in the community to help us help the children. Applications for Sprinkler Irrigation Accepted - The USDA/NRCS is accepting applications for any agricultural land owner interested in sprinkler irrigation. This is an incentive based program to aid in the control of salinity in the river. To receive an application or for questions related to the program contact NRCS at 540 W. Price River Drive, Price for Carbon County or 1120 N. Des-Bee-Dove Road, Castle Dale for Emery County.

Humane Society Rummage Sale - Donations are being collected for the Carbon County Humane Society's Rummage Sale. If you wish to donate items please contact 637-2908 or 637-2208. All donations are tax exempt.

Cans for CARE-A-VAN - Aluminum can drive to assist the elderly with transportation to medical appointments. Drop off at Howa's on Carbonville Road or call 637-9488 for pick up. Cans must be bagged.

Utah Youth Village - Carbon and Emery residents interested in becoming proctor parents may contact Lisa Peirce at 1-888-226-6557.

Alzheimer's - Memory Loss - The Price area has been developing a C.A.R.E. Program with the Alzheimer's Association. The program needs caregivers who could use a break from the constant chores of taking care of a family member with memory loss. The program also needs volunteers to help provide companion services while the caregiver gets a much needed break for 1-3 hours. Volunteers will be reimbursed for mileage. The C.A.R.E. program for the Alzheimer's Association of Utah is in the Price R.S.V.P. office which is located in the Carbon County Senior Citizens building, 30 East 200 South in Price. Volunteers Needed - Rocky Mountain Hospice - Faith in Action is looking for trusting, compassionate people to provide respite time for families of terminally ill patients. Training will be provided by Rocky Mountain. For more information about our volunteer program or to volunteer please call Rocky Mountain Hospice at 637-8070.

Story and Craft Hour - C.E.U. Museum will be holding a children's story and craft hour every first and third Friday of the month at 2:00 pm in the museum's discovery room. Please call the Museum at 637-5060 if you have any questions.

Castleview Hospital Auxiliary - "Pink Ladies" are accepting applications for volunteers. Contact Sherline Riche at 472-5278 or Norma Baker at 637-0292.

CASA - Special advocates are trained volunteers appointed by judges to speak for children appearing in court. Volunteers are screened. For information, contact Kerrie at 435-381-5595 or 435-650-0654.

Casa Volunteers Needed - Each year hundreds of children in Carbon and Emery counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Those interested in volunteering should contact Kerrie, the CASA Coordinator, at (435) 381-5595.

CEU Library - Winter hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sundays 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The library is closed on weekends during school breaks. Rape crisis hotline - Rape or domestic violence victims in the Carbon-Emery County area may contact the local 24-hour crisis line toll-free at 1-866-894-8610.

Helper Library - Winter hours are Monday- Wednesday from noon to 8:00 p.m., Thursday from noon to 6:00 p.m., Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Closed daily from 2:30 until 3:00 p.m. Closed Sunday and holidays. Books for Shut-ins - As a service to our community, the Helper Library is happy to deliver books to shut-ins. To take advantage of this service, call the library at 472-5601.

Women's Bible Study Group - Interdenominational, interactive. Mondays 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the lower fellowship hall of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Take the quiz and win a prize. Spence S. Eccles Health Sciences Library provides hands-on Consumer Health Information Training at the Price Library on October 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Teen night is October 20 at 6:30 p.m. We will be making Halloween crafts. We will be having a Halloween Party for story time children ages 1-10 years. It will be in the City Hall October 25 at 5:00 p.m. and October 27 at 1:00 p.m. Come dressed up! Teen Read Week is October 16-22. The Price City Library will be having an art contest for children ages 10-18 for the first and second place winners. American Legion Service Officer Visit - On October 13, a Service Officer from the American Legion Office in Salt Lake City will be visiting Price to assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits, preparing and documenting application for compensation, pension, hospitalization and other benefits. This is a free service and veterans need not be members of the American Legion to qualify for assistance. The officer will be working out of the Price Workforce Services Center from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Please bring the following documents so that we may better serve you: DD form 214, marriage/divorce papers, birth/adoption/death certificates, children's social security numbers.
