A Chevrolet Blazer lies upside down in a field after the vehicle left the roadway Tuesday afternoon near the Hiawatha Junction on Utah State Road 10 in southern Carbon County.
Utah Highway Patrol troopers at the accident scene attributed the minor injuries incurred by the unidentified driver and a child passenger to the fact that the woman was buckled up and the youngster was restrained in a properly installed car seat. It appeared that the southbound vehicle left the wet roadway after a thunderstorm had passed the area.
UHP Sgt. John Kelly encouraged Carbon County motorists to travel at reduced speeds during and immediately after rainstorms because wet road conditions can cause vehicles to hydroplane.
