Locals provide strong showing in mining competition

The Energy West team from Emery County proved they are the champs last week during the annual Rocky Mountain Coal Assocation Mine Rescue Competition.
The team took the first place combination trophy by winning the mine rescue, first aid and preshift competitions. The team consists of Gary Christensen, the captain; Ray Guymon, Kelly Duke, Tain Curtis, Gordon Larsen and Brad Reed as the briefing officer.
Westridge Resources from Price took first in the novice mine rescue category.
The Energy West team dominated the competition by placing first in mine rescue, first, second and third in first aid and third in preshift.

The competition drew teams to the College of Eastern Utah Campus from Utah, Colorado and New Mexico.
