Applications for Sprinkler Irrigation Accepted - The USDA/NRCS is accepting applications for any agricultural land owner interested in sprinkler irrigation. Food Handler's Classes - for all persons working in restaurants, bars, nursing homes, school cafeterias, convenience stores or grocery deli's. Program to Improve Wildlife Habitat - The Natural Resource Conservation Service in partnership with the Colorado River Salinity Control Forum, local Soil Conservation Districts, and RC&D Councils in Eastern Utah has funds available to improve wildlife habitat through the Basin States Parallel Program. Workout For Your Health - Carbon Rec offers low impact aerobic, weight and many other fitness techniques classes from Monday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. $2.00 per class or passes available. Volunteers Needed - ProCare (After School Program) is seeking volunteers to help out with daily activities and also substitute for regular VISTA workers when necessary. High school students and all adults welcome. Those over 18 must pass background check prior to working with ProCare. Alzheimer's - Memory Loss - The Price area has been developing a C.A.R.E. Program with the Alzheimer's Association. The program needs caregivers who could use a break from the constant chores of taking care of a family member with memory loss. The program also needs volunteers to help provide companion services while the caregiver gets a much needed break for 1-3 hours. Volunteers will be reimbursed for mileage. The C.A.R.E. program for the Alzheimer's Association of Utah is in the Price R.S.V.P. office which is located in the Carbon County Senior Citizens building, 30 East 200 South in Price. Helper City Community Development Committee - All interested parties are invited to attend the Community Development Committee Meeting of Helper City every Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the meeting room at the Helper Civic Auditorium or in the Library in the Auditorium. This committee has been formed by Volunteers to acquire a new Helper City Community Pool.

Casa Volunteers Needed - Each year hundreds of children in Carbon and Emery counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Foster Grandparents - Volunteers of America-Utah needs grandparents to join the Foster Grandparent Program team. Foster Grandparents receive a modest non-taxable stipend of about $200 per month. Individuals who are at least 60 years old; love children; have a limited income, and extra time to share may qualify. FGP volunteers serve 20 hours per week in local schools, and receive a daily meal, a yearly physical, accident and liability insurance while on duty, and transportation to and from the school. Parenting for Teens - The Family Support and Children's Justice Center in Price offers a free class dealing with the issues, problems and difficulties facing teen parents. Carbon County Animal Shelter - AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Family Support & Children's Justice Center - offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting classes/divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings. Breakfast in the Park - on June 18 the Spring Glen Community Park Committee is hosting their annual breakfast at the Spring Glen Park beginning at 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Menu includes sausage, ham, eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, juise and coffee. Tickets are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children under 14, or $20.00 for family tickets and can be purchased at the gate. Spring Glen Park is located at 4175 N. 2000 W. is Spring Glen. Flag Day Ceremonies - Price Elks Lodge Officers will conduct a Flag Day ceremony on June 14 at the Price City Peace Garden at 6:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend this ceremony about the history of the flag of our nation. Immediately following the ceremony the American Legion Officers will conduct a flag retirement at the Elks Lodge parking lot. The public is invited to bring any old or worn out American flags to be properly disposed of.

Sunnyside Rodeo - Sunnyside's 55th Annual Rodeo will be held on July 8-9 with the Royalty Contest held on June 26 at 5:00 p.m. Royalty consists of Queen, 1st and 2nd Attendant ages 13 and up, 2 Princesses 12 years and under. Support groups

CASA Volunteers needed in Carbon - Court Appointed Special Advocates are needed to work with abused and neglected children who are involved in the juvenile court system at no fault of their own. Must be over the age of 21. Contact the CASA program at (435) 650-0654.

F.U.T.U.R.E.S. - Support group for Families by Families, a Carbon County NAMI affiliate. Developed for families who have children with challenges, we meet the first and third Wednesday of each month. Women's cancer support group - meets the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Castleview's classroom. For information, contact Sherry King at 637-4800, extension 3510.

Bringing Hope Foundation - Single mothers meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Price Community Center. No fees required. Participants must enroll by contacting the foundation at 637-5542.

Caregivers support group - meets the last Wednesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. at 10 South Fairgrounds Road. For information, contact Lisa Perla at 637-4950.
