Letter to the Editor: Man of God?
George W. Bush, man of God.
He says he'll veto a bill on stem cell research funding, citing God as his reason. But my understanding is that any God would want the best for his children, including research which leads to containing and eradicating the terrible diseases which blight mankind. If God's the only one who can create life, why should the president worry that man can step into such a role. Its impossibility makes it sinless.
The other side of the Bush equation is our president's lack of regard for the value of both American and non-American lives. He has lied to and fleeced the American people into believing in an Iraqi war that has killed, and continues to kill, tens of thousands.
If I were Bush, I wouldn't be mentioning God. Instead I'd be hoping he didn't exist.
