During the College of Eastern Utah's upset over second ranked Southern Nevada, Derek Waddoups sends a Nevada runner back to the dugout after a quick play at home. The Eagles rallied to split a four game series against the Coyotes last weekend.

After struggling through much of the season, the College of Eastern Utah's baseball team proved what talent the team has. The Eagles hosted the Southern Nevada Coyotes from Las Vegas.

The Eagles who were thought to be the underdog, came out with all the confidence in the world. Although the Coyotes are the second ranked team in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, the Eagles did not fear records. In fact, the Eagles seized the opportunity to take control of the ball game and prove that the team is definetly not down and out.

In the first of Fridays double headers, the Eagles played strong. Everything seemed to be falling in place for the Eagles as they defeated the Coyotes, 5-4. The second game of the day found the Eagles on the other side of the score board, with a 12-5 loss.

After a two game split the first day of competition, the Eagles entered the second series of double headers. Although the Eagles have had a difficult season, the team found the strength to fly above the Coyotes.

In the first of the two games, the Eagles challenged the Coyotes talents by pressuring the visiting team. Although the Coyotes finished victorious by the score of 8-6, the team had to fight for the win.

Both teams seemed to be playing quite similarly, but by the time the second game rolled around, the Eagles got their second wind and smothered the Coyotes, 12-2.

The Coyotes came into the two day event filled with confidence in the world. This confidence was quickly replaced with frustration as the Eagles soared high abouve the Coyote pack.

The Eagles will travel to Snow College this weekend to play a four game series. With only two weekends left in the regular season, the Eagles hope to finish strong. With momentum in their favor, the Eagles should fly above Snow College.
