Mass gravestone blessed at Price Cemetery

The Very Rev. Athanasios, along with Metropolitan Isaiah of Denver and Richard Byrd, alter server, bless a gravestone recently erected for 29 men who died in the Castle Gate Mine disaster in March of 1924. For those 81 years these men were buried in the Price Cemetery without a headstone to mark their memory. In the last few weeks the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church raised $1700 to erect the headstone with all 29 names on it so they will not be forgotten. The drive to purchase and install the headstone was directed by Andrew Hillas. The service on Sunday afternoon was attended by more than 75 people.
