Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation - a non-profit group that helps injured and orphaned wildlife. Help is needed year-round for various projects. Cash donations are always needed and greatly appreciated. For information call Debbie Pappas at 637-7055 or Debbie Sartori at 637-1372.

Workout For Your Health - Carbon Rec offers low impact aerobic, weight and many other fitness techniques classes from Monday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. $2.00 per class or passes available. Sandy Winn teaches Monday and Wednesday, Diane Truscott Tuesday and Thursday at Castle Heights Elementary.

Volunteers Needed - Rocky Mountain Hospice and Faith in Action Volunteer program is looking for caring volunteers who would like to work with elderly people who do not qualify for Home Health or Hospice care but could use companionship, someone to call to see and check that they are all right, someone to run the errands they can no longer do. Volunteers will try to help these people live as independently as possible in their own homes. Foster Grandparents - Volunteers of America-Utah needs grandparents to join the Foster Grandparent Program team. Foster Grandparents receive a modest non-taxable stipend of about $200 per month. Individuals who are at least 60 years old; love children; have a limited income, and extra time to share may qualify. FGP volunteers serve 15 hours per week in local schools, receive a daily meal, a yearly physical, accident and liability insurance while on duty, and mileage reimbursement to and from the school. Sub For Santa Pool Tournament - On December 18 at 7:00 p.m. the Sub for Santa Annual Broomstick Pool Tournament will be held at the Hideaway. Come on out and support the children and have a good time. Rules: bring a standard broom with sweeper, $10 entry fee, 60% goes to Sub for Santa, remaining 40% split between first, second and third place. Plaques awarded.

C.A.R.E. Program - The Price area has been developing a C.A.R.E. Program with the Alzheimer's Association. The program needs caregivers who could use a break from the constant chores of taking care of a family member with memory loss. The program also needs volunteers to help provide companion services while the caregiver gets a much needed break for 1-3 hours. Volunteers will be reimbursed for mileage. The C.A.R.E. program for the Alzheimer's Association of Utah is in the Price R.S.V.P. office which is located in the Carbon County Senior Citizens building, 30 East 200 South in Price. Story and Craft Hour - C.E.U. Museum will be holding a children's Story and Craft Hour every first and third Friday of the month at 2:00 pm in the Museum's Discovery Room. Please call the Museum at 613-5754 if you have any questions.

Frontier Project - A local Family Support Group, Frontier Family F.U.T.U.R.E.S. meets every third Thursday in Carbon County. This is an organized parent education and support group. Anyone interested is invited to participate. Meetings begin at 7:00 at the Castle Valley Center, 755 North Cedar Hills Dr. in Price. Childcare and refreshments are available. The Frontier Project is also recruiting respite providers and mentors for youth and families. Do you have an hour a week to give to a child? Carbon County Animal Services - Residents are encouraged to bring recycled newspapers and aluminum to the office at 3360 S. 225 West, Price. Donations will be used for homeless pets.

Carbon County Food Bank - Hours are Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. For information on donating, volunteering or applying, contact the food bank at 637-9232.

Golden Rule Mission - Donate your garage/yard sale leftovers to the Golden Rule Mission in Helper. We will pick up, call 472-2631. Tax deductible.

Women's Bible Study Group - Interdenominational, interactive. Mondays 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the lower fellowship hall of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Price Library - Winter hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; Saturday 11:00 a.m to 3:45 p.m. Closed Sunday and Holidays. Story hours at the Library: Tuesday 5:00 p.m. (Barkin' Books), Wednesday 5:00 p.m., Thursday 1:00 p.m. We are doing food for fines. Bring in one can of food = one fine, so get all your fines taken care of. The food will be donated to the local food bank. Christmas Silent Auction, put your bids in now, the auction will close December 18, 2004. Teen night at the library will be December 16, 2004 at 6:30 p.m.

Family Support & Children's Justice Center - offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting classes/divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings. Parenting classes are scheduled Thursday at 1:30 p.m. For information, call the center at 637-0281.

Community Christmas Concert - Choirs from Price North Stake Center and Ascension St. Matthew's Church, on December 19 at 7:00 p.m. will be performing Christmas Music at the Price North Stake Center, 449 North 100 East. The public is welcome at this free concert.

VFW Field Service Officer Visit - On January 6, 2005 a Field Service Officer from the VFW Department Service Office in Salt Lake City will be visiting Price to assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits, preparing and documenting application for compensation, pension, hospitalization and other benefits. This is a free service and veterans need not be members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States to qualify for assistance. The officer will be working out of the Price Workforce Services Center from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Please bring the following documents so that we may better serve you: DD form 214, marriage/divorce papers, birth/adoption/death certificates, children's social security numbers.

CASA Volunteers needed in Carbon - Court Appointed Special Advocates are needed to work with abused and neglected children who are involved in the juvenile court system at no fault of their own. Must be over the age of 21. Contact the CASA program at (435) 650-0654.
